A NEW event will be heading to Wrexham next month, inviting residents to 'help shape the vision and plan' for the city centre.

The WrexFactor is a Wrexham City Board event, being delivered in partnership with Start Something Good at Cwmpas, whose pioneering events have taken place with thousands of people all over the country.

The event is heading for the Centenary Club at Wrexham AFC's STok Cae Ras ground on Thursday, October 10.

It is the Wrexham City Board's first 'community ideas event' and they are aiming to 'bring together people who live, work, visit, invest in and love Wrexham', to 'share their insights and ideas, and help shape the plans which will guide the Board's work in the months and years ahead'.

The WrexFactor is completely free to attend, but spaces are limited so please register here if you wish to take part.

There will be two sessions taking place on October 10, one starting at 1pm and another at 5.30pm, and each will last for three hours.

During the sessions, everyone who comes along will work in teams to:

  • Reflect on what makes Wrexham City Centre a special place for you, the challenges we need to overcome, and the opportunities we must take if the city is to fulfil its potential.
  • Develop ideas for ambitious but achievable projects, which could be delivered in Wrexham and make a real and lasting difference to people’s experience of the City Centre.
  • Pitch these ideas to a panel of experts from across the country, who will be offering their feedback, guidance and encouragement throughout.

The Wrexham City Board said: "We really hope to see you there for what promises to be an enjoyable event that might change all of our futures in some way."

The board is independently chaired and brings together a range of elected leaders, business and community representatives from all over Wrexham.

TOP STORIES TODAY

Its vision is ‘a thriving, playful and vibrant Wrexham City Centre’ - and over the next 10 years it will be responsible for investing its £20 million of funding in and around the City Centre to help make this vision a reality.

Central to the board’s success will be working closely with all those who live in, work in, invest in, and visit Wrexham: everyone it is a special place for, and everyone who calls it home.

Through the summer of 2024, over a thousand people helped the Board in their early stages of its thinking by sharing ‘just one thing’ which they felt could change Wrexham City Centre for the better. The WrexFactor is the next step in this journey.
