OFF-DUTY officers from Wrexham are hosting a charity match to raise vital awareness of a devastating disease.
Wrexham Police FC will be playing Wrexham Legends at Airbus Broughton on Sunday, October 6.
All proceeds will go to Boxes of Sunshine, a charity created in memory of 14-year-old Kristen who sadly died aged 14 after a short and sudden battle with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia.
In the two years before she died, Kirsten had suffered with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, which robbed a vibrant, energetic child of so much. She wasn’t able to go to school any more, or walk very far, or concentrate for long periods.
'Boxes of Sunshine' are sent to young people aged 11-16 across the UK, who have a chronic illness, disability or condition (physical or mental) in the hope of bringing a smile to their faces.
The team of dedicated off-duty police officers hold a number of charity matches throughout the year to help raise money for some very worthwhile causes. See the GoFundMe page here.

Founder Sgt Dave Smith said: "We’d like to thank Kev and Lynsey for allowing us to raise funds to support Boxes of Sunshine in memory of Kirsten.
"It’s an incredibly worthy cause that really does help make a real difference. We hope to raise £5,000 to help the charity to continue bringing smiles to children’s faces that are going through a difficult time."
Since the group was formed, over £44,000 has been raised. An incredible total making a huge difference to local charities and organisations in Wrexham and surrounding areas.
Kick off will be at 2pm and everyone is welcome to support the worthy event.
