A MAN has been handed a community order after he admitted escaping from custody on Christmas Eve.
The Leader reported on Friday how Jamie Jones, of North Avenue in Ruabon, admitted one offence of escaping from lawful custody, which took place on December 24 last year in Wrexham.
Judge Niclas Parry briefly summarised the facts at that hearing as: "Ran away on the 24th, caught on the 25th" and said Jones' plea had been "very sensible."
The 35-year-old appeared at Mold Crown Court on Thursday for sentence.
During the brief hearing, Judge Parry said: "Two types of people escape - they're either serious criminals, or they're stupid.

The Judge handed down a six month community order with 10 days of rehabilitation activity.
Turning to the defendant, he said: "You're treading on thin ice.
"It was a short-lived incident.
"You realised within a very short time you were going nowhere and no harm was done."
