ROAD closures will be in place to allow demolition of a landmark on Anglesey to take place.

The demolition of chimney stack at the old Anglesey Aluminium site will happen on March 20. The chimney has dominated the skyline for more than 50 years.

The work is set to impact the A55.

Traffic Wales North and Mid said: "A55 between J1 and J3 in both directions March 20 day time works.

"Lane one Westbound and Lane two Eastbound closures will be in place to allow Anglesey Chimney Demolition work.

"Eastbound J2 entry slip will be closed for a short duration between 10am and 4pm."

As part of a prize draw, which is raising funds for the RNLI, in memory of Holyhead RNLI volunteer crew member Iwan Williams, a member of the public will be given the opportunity to bring down the chimney and press the button signalling the demolition.
