HUNDREDS of residents gathered in Wrexham City Centre over the weekend for the annual Christmas light switch on celebrations.

There was an impressive turn-out at Queen's Square over the weekend for the festive lights switch on followed by entertainment at Eagles Meadow's shopping centre.

The event was formally opened by Wrexham's mayor, Cllr Andy Williams. People were given the chance to have a sing-song with a number of Christmas carols.

A lantern parade then commenced from the square led by siblings Amelia, and George Hughes, in memory of their dad, Glyn Hughes, who sadly died aged 38 from bowel cancer in 2022.

The sponsored walk featuring dozens of smiley faces to Eagles Meadow was in aid of Nightingale House Hospice.

In Eagles Meadow, people were treated to an incredible performance from Urban Fusion Street Dance, Andy Bennett who headlined the show, Dene Michaels, and others.

The event was a huge success and it certainly brightened up the city centre ahead of the festive period.
