Gwersyllt cricket club has announced a 12-hour sponsored walk fundraiser which will include bingo, entertainment and refreshments.

The cricket club is raising money to build a new pavilion which aims to serve the community and improve the diversity and inclusion of the club.

The event will take place on Saturday, April 8 from midday until midnight.

Children will be invited to take part in the sponsored walk around the cricket pitch from midday until 6pm and then adults can take part in the full 12 hour sponsored walk from midday to midnight.

An Easter bingo will take place at 4pm inside the cricket club and local musician Tom Collins will take to the stage at 7.30pm.

Food and refreshments will be available on the day and members of the public are invited to come and cheer on those taking part in the sponsored walk.

The proposed pavilion will include cricket facilities that are inclusive, accessible, safe and sustainable.

In addition to this event, donations to the crowdfunder can be made here, with sponsorship options also available via this page.

Amy Griffiths, club manager, said: "The current facilities have been up for the past 33 years so we hope this new development will be up for even longer than that.

"The pavilion will be for everyone and really benefit the club and community in general.

"It'll make a huge difference to the children, disabled and women's visitors and players as there currently aren't specific facilities in place.

"Currently the changing rooms are not accessible and that is something we want to change."

Those interested in taking part in the event can obtain a sponsorship sheet from Gwersyllt Cricket Club.
