THE TOWPATH over Pontcysyllte Aqueduct will be closed for the next couple of months to allow "important" repair work to take place.
The Canal and River Trust has said that to facilitate repair works to the aqueduct's parapet, a full closure of the towpath on the bridge will be in place for pedestrians from January 3 until February 24.
Warning signage and fencing will be in place for people's safety.
A daytime closure of the canal itself will be in place between the same dates, Monday to Friday, from 9am until 3pm.
The Canal and River Trust has thanked members of the public for their patience whilst the work takes place.
