WREXHAM's FA Cup win over Oldham Athletic 'went without major disruption', according to North Wales Police.

There had been concerns ahead of the match after the incidents which took place between the two clubs just last month.

Fights broke out in the streets before the Reds' 2-1 win at Boundary Park during that time, with bricks and wheelie bins being thrown around among the punches.

As such, police patrols were stepped up ahead of the match played between the two sides at the Racecourse on Sunday, November 5.

Road closures were also in effect in areas around the football ground shortly before full-time to allow supporters to exit the stadium safely.

Wrexham enjoyed a fine 3-0 victory to advance to the Second Round of the historic FA Cup.

And the match itself went 'without any major disruption' among supporters, despite initial concerns from police officers.

A statement from NWP Wrexham Town officers read: "A brilliant result for Wrexham AFC today.

"Matchday policing resources had been escalated for the FA Cup match against Oldham Althletic, with fan safety being our utmost priority.

"We are pleased to report the game went without any major disruption. Thank you."
