THE Wales Comic Con will be making its long-awaited return to Wrexham this weekend - but what can fans expect to find there?

The popular convention moved from Glyndwr University to Telford International Centre back in 2019.

But, this Sunday (August 21), it returns to its former venue for what is being described as a 'very special homecoming'.

The event organisers say they have been working with Glyndwr University, Wrexham Council, and Welsh Government to liaise the return.

Here's a taste of what guests will be able to find on campus as Comic Con returns ...

Fabulous guests!

The Leader:

PIC: Mark Lewis Jones is coming home for Wales Comic Con.

Which is arguably the main attraction for any Comic Con, of course.

This year's line-up includes a whole host of top names including Stranger Things star Grace Van Dien, Flash Gordon legend Brian Blessed and Red Dwarf icon Danny John-Jules.

Also appearing will be the likes of Stefan Kapicic (Deadpool), Peter Davison (Doctor Who) and Wrexham's own Mark Lewis Jones, who has appeared in many a popular show down the years.

Robot Wars!

The Leader:

Something a little different to look forward to is the battle of the bots.

Robot Wars was a robot combat competition that was broadcast on British television from 1998 to 2004 and from 2016 to 2018.

It was hugely popular and saw teams of amateur and professional roboteers operating their own constructed remote controlled robots to fight against each other.

Teams would battle it out in an arena formed of steel and bullet proof glass fitted with arena hazards and containing areas occupied by hostile and heavier "House Robots".

Photo ops galore!

The Leader:

Guests will, as always, have an opportunity to take pictures with the stars and create those unforgettable moments.

Also on offer though is the Robcop movie car display which is an amazing photo opportunity for any fan of the film.

Panels and Cosplay Masquerade!

There will also be an epic selection of panels to enjoy on Sunday.

At 11am, Flash Gordon will be on before Red Dwarf at midday.

Then sees Deadpool at 1pm before DC (Arrow and Legends at 2pm and Stranger Things at 3pm.

The day will end with the highly-anticipated Cosplay Masquerade which anyone can take part in (providing they have signed up) at 4pm.

And with other activities on offer throughout the day, including a live collaborative comic workshop with ArtDesignsWales, Wales Comic Con certainly promises to be a day to remember!
