Thousands turned out to enjoy the Wauns Carnival in Bradley this weekend.

The annual festival, held at Bradley fields took place on Saturday, with organisers estimating a total in excess of 5,000 attending.

The event, organised by a group of volunteers, headed by local councillor Tina Mannering had a wide range of activities on offer for all ages.

There was a monster truck show, Wresting and judo displays, and a classic car range on offer.

Live music was played throughout the day. There was also a petting zoo, dance competitions and plenty of stalls and vendors at the event.

Tina was pleased that all the hard work organising had come off, she said: "It was an absolutely amazing day, really really good.

"Have to say a big thank you to all our sponsors and all the people who helped organise it, it wouldn't be possible without all of them.

"We've had really good feedback so far, with people amazed by the day. We think there was in excess of 5,000 people, plenty of families too as there was something for everyone.

"The responses have been overwhelming, without the praise and encouragement it wouldn't be the same."

Tina and the organising team ensured that with the current cost of living crisis,  there were plenty of free activities on offer for everyone to partake in.

She added: "With the cost of living, people haven't got the money to spend as a lot are already saving for winter.

"Having free activities so everyone is involved is what it's all about.

"We need the community to have these sorts of events so that people can get out with their families and have fun."

While Tina and her team take a well earned rest, she did hint at next year's festival being bigger and better when quizzed, she added:

"Of course, our aim is to please people, but we might just need a few weeks off before we start planning anything."
