A FLORIST from Wrexham created a stunning motorbike display in tribute to a much-loved pub landlord who died last month.

Colin Frankel, passed away at his home in Cefn Mawr aged 74 on July 16.

Affectionately known as 'Col from the Mill', Mr Frankel was known for having run the Mill Inn, Cefn Mawr.

With no prior experience, he bought the pub in 2000 and, for many years after, the Mill remained a hub of the community.

Now, a tribute to him is sitting proudly upon the pub's roof.

Laura Evison, who has been a florist for over 35 years, works for the Regent House of Flowers, which has been in Wrexham since 1947.

The business specialises in services for funeral tributes, and as such, Laura was tasked with creating a 3D motorbike in honour of Mr Frankel.

The result of four days of hard work was this display below.

Laura said: "The motorbike is mainly made up of chrysanthemums which were then sprayed black, red and silver to give the bike it's colours.

"I upcycled a lot of stuff we already had lying around the shop to make the motorbike's base. I used wood and broomhandles and the headlight is made from a soup bowl.

The Leader:

PIC: Another angle of the tribute.

"I was very nervous to try it as this piece has to be created from scratch and hand made but I was so pleased with the final tribute, which was taken to the Mill after the wake (on August 8) and put on the roof for all to see. It is still there now too.

"Mr Frankel's final farewell saw his coffin carried by a motorcycle trike, so this was a fitting tribute to go alongside that."
