A POPULAR North Wales business is set to be featured on a Channel Five series tomorrow.

Rhug Estate, near Corwen, covers 2,500 acres extending from Gwyddelwern in the north, Carrog to the east, Cynwyd to the south and Maerdy to the west.

The estate, run by Lord Newborough - aka Robert Wynn - is also well-known for having its very own drive-thru, farm shop and restaurant on site.

Now, Rhug's success is set to be highlighted in Channels Five's 'Britain's Poshest Farm Shop' series - which gets underway on Friday, August 12 at 8pm.

Featuring some of the nation’s most glorious countryside, this two-part series celebrates our very British love of a good farm shop.

Local honey, traditional pots of jam, artisan cheeses, venison and delicious prime cuts from estate-reared livestock are all featured as the series explores seven of the finest farm shops in the country.

Viewers will meet the very different owners and dedicated staff at work in these foodie paradises - who share their passion for the very finest produce and creating the ultimate farm shop experience – a charming rustic world - where everything is beautifully presented and fresh as can be!

Rhug Estate will feature in episode one of the series where viewers will discover the ambitions of Lord Newborough, 8th Baron of the Rhug Estate and owner of the Estate’s prestigious Farm shop.

The shop boasts well known customers that even include the Royal family.

Stocked with Estate reared livestock that includes surprises like bison – which the farm shop sells as burgers and salt marsh lamb - in this episode the eccentric Lord introduces his foray into the world of luxury skincare made from ingredients harvested and foraged from his estate.

The episode then moves onto Lincolnshire, on the historical Doddington Estate, where a picturesque farm shop there reveals the secret to its steady supply of fresh fruit and veg.

Hard-working owner Claire Birch – whose family has lived in the grand Doddington Hall for around 400 years, shares a sneaky peak of the Estate’s ancient and sometimes hilarious recipe archive.

Then, in Devon, Darts Farm Shop is a family affair, and viewers will meet the youngest generation taking on the farm shop business – both out in the fields harvesting the fresh produce and in the shop itself – keeping it looking tip top for customers.

Their farm shop already features a trendy Gelato counter and a Spa – and this episode follows the opening of a new rooftop bar which seems miles from what you’d expect from a farm shop.

Tune in at 8pm on Friday, August 12 to take a look at some of these amazing farm shops in action.
