Summer Reading Challenge 2022

Join Aura Libraries for a summer of science, reading, creativity and fun! To take part in this year's Summer Reading Challenge organised by the Reading Agency, children will need to read six books throughout the summer, collect goodies along the way with each book that they read, and finally receive an extra special medal and certificate at the end of the summer holidays in celebration of completing the challenge. Children can join the challenge at the library or online via the Summer Reading Challenge website where they can rate and review books, download activities, and access video content, games and quizzes. The purpose of this free reading for pleasure programme is to encourage children aged four to 11 to keep reading during the summer holidays, and visit their local library to help maintain their reading skills and confidence. This year's theme, 'Gadgeteers', is all about science and innovation.

Come and join the fun and be a Gadgeteer with Aura Libraries! Pop in to your local library or visit www.aura.wales/holiday-activities to view our list of Summer Reading Challenge activities including workshops with authors Karen McCombie and Ben Davis, plus mad science workshops, Lego clubs and Xplore Science Wrexham. We hope to see you soon!

You can also browse through the Reading Agency's Summer Reading Challenge book list collection which is comprised of 67 inspiring titles for children of all reading levels aged 4-11. Each title has been specially chosen to reflect key Gadgeteers themes including everyday science, invention and creation, and fun with friends.
