AN ACTOR from the Wrexham area is the latest star announced for the Wales Comic Con event set to be held there next month.

Last month, it was announced that the hugely-popular event would be returning to Wrexham Glyndwr University after three years away.

The convention moved to Telford International Centre back in 2019 but is now returning to Wrexham on Sunday, August 21 for what is being described as a 'very special homecoming'. 

And also returning home during the event will be Rhos-born actor Mark Lewis Jones.

The 57-year-old is the latest guest to have been announced by the Wales Comic Con team via social media.

Jones also took to Twitter to announce the news.

He will by now be a familiar face to many having starred in many a popular series on our TV screens.

He played First Order Captain Moden Canady in 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi', a police inspector in BBC drama series '55 Degrees North', and Rob Morgan in the series 'Stella'.

Jones has also appeared in the likes of 'Silent Witness' and 'Law and Order: UK' and portrayed the character Shagga in the worldwide phenomenon that is 'Game of Thrones'. 

He began acting as a teenager with the Clwyd Youth Theatre and later trained at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.

Among others heading to Wrexham for the Wales Comic Con next month is the much-loved Brian Blessed and WWE wrestling royalty William Regal.
