A SCHOOL-BOY has been lauded for his incredible sprinting ability.

Alfie Pierce, 12, who attends Ysgol Bryn Alyn, recently took part in the Wrexham Schools Area Athletic competition, breaking the record for the 100m in just 12.9 seconds - cementing his place as arguably one of the quickest boys in the surrounding areas. Alfie also broke records for the 200m and 300m at his school’s sports day.

Alfie, who plays football for Liverpool has been sporty from a young age and his mum, Sharon, spoke of how proud she was of her naturally talented son.

“We’re so, so proud of him – very proud parents. He’s always been a fast runner from when he was small, he never lost a race.  He’ never been to athletics club or anything like that, he’s just naturally talented.”

Following Alfie’s achievements, in a Facebook post, Ysgol Bryn Alyn said: “Massive shout out to Year 7, Alife Pierce who not only won Victor Ludorum for Year 7 sports day, but also across all Wrexham Schools in the Area Athletic competition. How amazing is Alfie? We are extremely proud of him. He is a fantastic athlete, a superb sprinter!”
