A POPULAR young Wrexham man died of a cocaine overdose, an inquest heard. 

Kyle Joshua Preston, aged 24, died at his home on Vernon Street on December 12, 2021. 

At County Hall in Ruthin on Thursday (June 23), an inquest was held into the 24-year-old electrician's death.

It heard that on the evening of December 12, emergency services were called to reports of a body being found at Mr Preston's home on Vernon Street. 

Upon police officers entering the address, they found Mr Preston's body next to the sofa.

Paramedics attended the address and sadly pronounced Mr Preston dead at 11.35pm. 

A post-mortem examination found Mr Preston had "significantly high levels" of cocaine in his system. 

Home Office pathologist recorded a medical cause of death as cocaine toxicity after suffering a cocaine-related seizure.

The inquest was told that Mr Preston had attended a rave in Liverpool on December 10. 

Kate Sutherland, assistant coroner for North Wales East and Central, recorded the matter as a drug-related death. 

Tributes were paid to Kyle following his death. He was described as having been a "loving" and "larger than life" character, who was "living life to full".

Mr Preston's mum, Linzi, said in January: "He was really popular, had loads of friends and would always be out at weekends - he just lived life to the fullest.

"We all loved him so much, and I can't put into words how much we'll miss him."
