A Flintshire motorist has lost his licence after he was caught drug-driving.

Callum Wynne, of Bron Haul in Bagillt, appeared at Mold Magistrates Court on Thursday.

The 23-year-old admitted that on January 17 at Greenfield, he drove a Mercedes motor vehicle when the proportion of cannabis in his blood exceeded the specified limit.

He was found to have 5.9 microgrammes of the substance per litre of blood - the limit being 2.

Prosecutor Justin Espie told the court Wynne was stopped on the A548 by police, following which he returned the positive reading for the drug.

Gary Harvey, defending, told the court there were no specific aggravating features in his client's case.

District Judge Gwyn Jones said the defendant, a man of previous good character, had given his co-operation to the police when he was stopped.

He handed down a fine of £160 and ordered the defendant to pay £85 in costs and a £34 victim surcharge.

Wynne was banned from driving for a year.
