Two cats currently residing at a Wrexham adoption centre have left their carers confused as to why they have been ignored by potential adopters.

Older ladies Sherry and Jessica are desperately seeking retirement homes, having been at Cats Protection’s Wrexham Adoption Centre for a combined total of almost 200 days.

Sherry is a 15-year-old sun-worshipper who loves to find a sunny spot where she can curl up in her cozy cat bed.

The team at the centre has fallen in love with this tabby as she has been so affectionate and loves to be showered with attention.

She’s not a fan of other cats and avoided the dogs in her previous home, so a stress-free home where she is the only pet would be ideal.

Time and dedication have been put into helping 12-year-old Jessica back to her best after coming into care suffering with hyperthyroid problems.

While not an unusual condition, it can cause a myriad of health issues. She has undergone a thyroidectomy procedure, as well as having teeth removed to ease pain and discomfort. Going forward, Jessica will need regular monitoring of her blood pressure.

A quiet home with a garden would suit this affectionate and gentle tortoiseshell, with an owner who is happy to give her a fuss.

Wrexham Adoption Centre manager Suzan Kennedy said: “While it has been a joy to look after these two girls, a long stay in an adoption centre is not ideal for older cats.

“Our wish is to find them their forever homes where they will be loved and cherished, and we just know that if the right person spots them they will jump at the chance to make them part of their family.”
