AN APPEAL has been launched following an altercation in Wrexham town centre.

Inspector Luke Hughes has called for information following the incident, which happened at around 1.10pm on Thursday.

He said: "We had reports of two male arguing in the vicinity of Prince Charles Road.

"One had then chased the other. 

"There were no wider threats to members of the public and it appeared to be an isolated argument.

"Officers responded and subsequently arrested a 22 year old male.

"The matters remains under investigation but I would appeal for anyone who witnessed this to come forward quoting 22000417389."

Insp Hughes also released information about the sorts of incidents officers in the town have been dealing with over the last 24 hours.

Anti-social behaviour /disorder in Hullah Lane at 4.07pm on Thursday
He said : "Call from member of the public stating that there was an assault taking place Hullah lane, group of five/six assaulting two others.
"Officers attend and nothing apparent – patrols in the areas to be increased in response to this and the earlier matter."

 

Making off without payment at 1.50pm on Thursday
Insp Hughes said: "Female wearing a mask fills up car with fuel, then opens window and continues to fill containers on back seat.
"No attempt to pay, vehicle was a Black Vauxhall Zafira which was possibly trying to conceal its identity with false plates."

 

Five offences of shoplifting
The inspector said: "Meat, alcohol and cosmetics all being stolen.
"Named suspects for the majority and enquiries ongoing. No obvious welfare concerns beyond criminality to support substance abuse."

Looking ahead to Saturday and Sunday, he added: "The weekend is looking exciting in Wrexham, Armed forces day and then the beer festival in common wood, let’s hope the weather holds out and it’s a pleasant weekend for all."
