CHESTER Grosvenor Garden Centre are hoping to reopen tomorrow following the breakout of a fire which caused a building to collapse yesterday.

In a statement released last night the centre said: “As the day draws to a close, we reflect on today's events, and again are so thankful that the building was empty at the time and that the main garden centre was undamaged.

“We are pleased to report that we hope to be open again on Thursday of this week. We have a lot of work to do on the clean-up whilst the officials continue with their safety work which needs to be done.

“When we stand and reflect on the events of the day, it does put a lot of things into perspective...

Thank you once again for all your kind words, it has meant so much to everyone at Grosvenor “

This follows yesterday’s shocking events which resulted in five fire crews and an aerial platform being called to the garden centre in the early hours of Tuesday morning to tackle the blaze.

There was no shortage of support for the Grosvenor from the public in the wake of yesterday’s events.

Joanne Edwards said: “Thank goodness everyone safe and no one is hurt. People’s lives can’t be replaced A big cheer to all the firemen and women involved in the fire rescue”

Sue Parker added: “I was so sad to hear the news. A place I like to visit. Hope you bounce back soon. Glad you were all safe.”
