WREXHAM Musical Theatre Society is making a return following a period of inactivity and is holding a 'mixer' later this month.
Having previously been based in their Riverside Studio Theatre on Rivulet Road for nearly 40 years under the name Wrexham Operatic Society, the group sold the premises and seemingly dissolved - until now.
In April this year, the society held an AGM where a new board of trustees were elected and have since been working hard to create a new plan for the future of WMTS.
A common factor of the newly appointed board’s ethos is that community should be at the heart of everything they do and with this in mind, the group is holding their first ever mixer at Wrexham’s community hub, Ty Pawb.
Current chairman, Sion Edwards said: “Rejuvenating the society and providing more opportunities for people in Wrexham to engage with the arts has been our ultimate aim and, in just two months, we’ve made great progress to bring WMTS back to life and up-to-date for a 2022 audience.”

“Community is at the heart of our ethos and will be central to the society’s future so we hope as many people from the town will join us on this journey”.
Everyone is welcome to the mixer, where future plans will be discussed and if you are interested, how you can join.
There will also be an open mic night for anybody who wishes to sing, recite, play, speak or beat.
The Wrexham Musical Theatre Society Mixer will be held Saturday, June 18 at 7.30pm.
