Residents in Queensway, Hope, held their own street party for the Platinum Jubilee - and hosted their very own Queen!
The street party was to get the community spirit back as it was before the pandemic.
Katherine Williams, one of the neighbourhood’s residents helped to organise the event.
She said: “Three of us off the street decided to do a jubilee party so we applied to the council to close the roads and because we’ve got quite a few elderly residents in the neighbourhood it was something nice for them to come out and enjoy.”

The party began at 2pm on Friday, June 3, and roughly didn’t finish till around 1am, giving all 30 to 40 residents a party to remember.

The party even had its own Queensway Queen, 82-year-old Jo Johnson.
Katherine explained: “She’s always dressed up for the carnivals - anything like V-Day (where) she dressed up. But now she’s not as mobile as she used to be so I asked her if she'd dress up and she loved it she was up early getting ready.”

She added: “I did it more for the elderly residents on the street really just to get them out with lockdown and everything they’ve not been able to get out and talk to people so it was a good opportunity for them.”
