Meeting Team GB Olympic athlete Jamie Hull at Ysgol Pentre.

It has been an exciting time at the school recently.

They were visited by Team GB Olympic athlete Jamie Hull. He delivered an inspirational assembly about his career, achievements, training regimes, sacrifices made and resilience, and the highs and lows of his career and how they’ve recovered from the national lockdowns.

The pupils saw an amazing live demonstration of scooting and circuit training led by Jamie.

The school was also chosen to join a nationwide cook-a-long event for National Vegetarian Week, in partnership with Cook School and Linda McCartney Foods.

Children have cooked Mary McCartney’s mini pies, using free recipe kits sent to by Cook School.

The kits were used to guide the children to help them learn basic kitchen skills, and how to cook and enjoy this special veggie meal.

The mini vegetarian pies were so much fun to make and tasted amazing too.

Cook School is a non-profit organisation that teaches children how to cook healthy vegetarian meals, by visiting schools in person, running digital cookery programmes, and sending out recipe boxes.

In 1991, Linda McCartney’s love of animals, the planet and food inspired a revolutionary new vegetarian food company, transforming the veggie food market with her plant-based range.

Mary McCartney is Linda’s daughter and a Global Ambassador for Meat Free Monday.
