Investigations remain ongoing today into an incident where a man sadly died after he was bitten by a dog.

North Wales Police confirmed yesterday that a 62-year-old man had sadly passed away despite the best efforts of ambulance crews.

The Welsh Ambulance service were called to a medical emergency at 11.33am in the Holt Road area in Wrexham.

They sent three emergency ambulances, two rapid response vehicles and the Wales Air Ambulance to the scene.

Police were later requested at the scene and closed the road.

It reopened sometime around 6.15 pm yesterday evening.

North Wales Police said today: “An investigation into this incident remains ongoing and officers are liaising with the family of the deceased.”

Yesterday, a spokesman said: “At 11.44am today (23 May) we responded to a request to attend an address on Holt Road, Wrexham to assist an ambulance crew at the scene.

“Welsh Ambulance Service reported that a 62-year-old male was in cardiac arrest after being bitten by a dog at the property.

“Sadly, despite the best efforts of paramedics, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The man’s next of kin have been informed and our inquiries into this incident remain ongoing.

“Family members have requested that their privacy is respected at this time.

“The dog was securely contained at the property and was euthanised by a vet at the scene.

“Other dogs kept at the property have been removed by trained dog handlers and will be temporarily kennelled whilst inquiries are ongoing.”
