BUCKLEY Town Council has elected the new mayor for 2022/23.

At the Annual General Meeting held on May 17, Councillor Julia Jones was elected. She announced her chosen charities for the year as the Buckley and Mynydd Isa Brownie and Guide Group and MIND.

Also at this meeting, Buckley Town Council elected Councillor Charles Cordery as its deputy mayor for 2022/23.

The outgoing mayor, Councillor Vivienne Blondek, presented donations to her chosen charities from her mayoral year which were Buckley Town Junior Football Club, Buckley Dementia Friends and The Counselling Hub.

She also presented the town council with a painting from Joe Chesters of a local scene in Buckley which has been in her personal possession. The new town clerk, Kevin Glyn-Davies was delighted to accept this painting on behalf of the town council.

Also at the meeting, retiring councillors John Thornton and Neville Phillips were presented with a gift in recognition of their many of years of service to the town council.
