A Wrexham fan from Ireland shares his experience as a supporter of the club, and his journey to Wembley.

Eoghan O’Donnell, from Wicklow, Ireland, has been a Wrexham fan for over 30 years. He runs the popular social media page, Wrexham Éire, on Twitter.

The Leader:

He explained that the club does not currently have a large following in Ireland, but it is something that Eoghan is working on.

He said: “I probably know a handful of people who support them. I’ve met a few Wrexham fans from Wrexham itself who have relocated to Ireland and keep in touch with them. I’m slowly spreading the fan base. All of my friends and colleagues would keep an eye on their scores, and I have even brought a few people over for games over the years.”

Eoghan is excited about the trip to Wembley and said: “This will be my third trip to Wembley to see Wrexham. I’m bringing my two kids with me this time as they keep pestering me to bring them to a game!”

Eoghan’s commitment to the club will see him do a round trip to Wembley and back in one day.

The Leader:

He explained: “Starting off from Wicklow up to Dublin Airport. I’ll be up at 4 am Sunday morning and I’ll be flying back that night at 10.30 pm.”

He does not get to see many games in person but said: “I try to go over once a season. I had a four-year gap recently but finally got over this season for the Dover game.”

To Eoghan, it’s the fans, the history, the town, and now the owners that stand out to him.

He explained how he thought the impact of co-owner Rob McElhenny and Ryan Reynolds is ‘massive’.

“It’s like a dream,” he said, “the gestures they’ve done for the community of Wrexham is second to none. They have helped so many people out with their generosity and I truly believe they are doing this for the love of the club and town."
