WREXHAM AFC could be set for a Hollywood-style ending to their season - befitting of their two owners.

The Reds produced what was arguably their finest performance of the season on Sunday to beat league leaders Stockport County.

A brace from Ollie Palmer and Paul Mullin's 30th goal of the season saw the hosts secure a comprehensive 3-0 win in front of the BT Sport television cameras.

The result keeps Wrexham's league title hopes alive, as they leapfrogged Stockport to go top on goal difference.

In front of a sell-out crowd (10,118), Phil Parkinson's men delivered when it mattered most.

The atmosphere in the ground was absolutely electric - and the roar when Ollie Palmer headed home Ben Tozer's long throw to give Wrexham the lead was spine-tingling.

Co-owner Rob McElhenney echoed this. He tweeted: "The support is astounding. The play is absolutely brilliant. Dreams are coming true. Let's go!!!@WrexhamAFC

Wrexham players also took to social media after the game.

Paul Mullin tweeted: "Big win today, we will go the end! Racecourse was bouncing!!! Buzzing to get my 30th goal of the season"

Jordan Davies said: "WHAT AN ATMOSPHERE!!! Massive result, boys on fire"

The Reds now face an anxious wait to see if Torquay United can do them a favour when they play Stockport on Wednesday.

If Torquay manage to beat Stockport, Wrexham will go into the final day in poll position to lift the National League title and gain promotion back to the Football League - after a 14-year hiatus.

Wrexham are now looking ahead to final day of the league season, as they travel down to east London to face Dagenham and Redbridge.

Stockport will host Halifax after their trip to Torquay in mid-week.

We are certainly in store for a very exciting few days.
