A FLINTSHIRE MP has written to local primary school headteachers urging them to order the Queen's Platinum Jubilee commemorative book.

Delyn MP, Rob Roberts, is urging primary school headteachers to opt in to get the book before the May 11 deadline.

The UK Government has commissioned the commemorative book which is free for all primary school aged children. The book celebrates the outstanding contribution, duty, and service that our Queen has given to our country over the last 70 years.

However, it was decided by the Welsh Government that pupils in Wales will not automatically receive this book, and their schools need to opt in to order these books.

Mr Roberts said: "I am hugely disappointed that the Welsh Government has chosen to make it difficult for children across Delyn to receive their copy of this commemorative book.

"Her Majesty The Queen has dedicated her life in service to our country for the last 70 years.  She is an outstanding example of public service. She has seen so many changes to daily life and she has quietly and steadfastly got on with things.

"The deadline to opt in for this book is growing closer and I strongly urge primary schools to opt in and order this book for their children.

"Although the form is relatively simple, to ease the administrative burden to primary schools, they are welcome to contact my office who will complete the form on their behalf."
