MOTORISTS who park inappropriately near a Wrexham school have been warned they could end up having their vehicles removed.

This week North Wales Police informed residents that patrols had been conducted after reports of "inconsiderate parking" at Penycae Primary School.

T/Chief Inspector Gavin Gilmore said: "PCSOs have been on patrol in the area of Penycae Primary School following recent reports from parents of pupils at the school and from local residents.

"These reports related to inappropriate parking on roads close to the school grounds.

"Where necessary, PCSOs will speak to owners of vehicles parked inappropriately and provide advice on parking safely elsewhere.

"In circumstances where parked vehicles continue to pose a hazard to pedestrians or other motorists, officers will take more robust measures and have the vehicles removed."

Tim Newbould, head teacher at Penycae Primary School, told the Leader: "I am pleased to say that nearly all of our parents park very sensibly, using either the large car park we have or a safe part of the road.

"I would encourage everyone to follow the highway code, and particularly not park on the zig-zags as this presents a serious risk of injury - or worse - to anyone using the crossing.

"I would like to thank the vast majority of parents who really do consider the safety of the children when driving."
