WREXHAM AFC's executive director has applauded the 277 supporters who made the long trip down south for their latest win at Weymouth.

The Reds came from 1-0 down at half time to beat their opponents 6-1 and relegate them from the National League in the process.

Dedicated fans who made their way down to the Bob Lucas Stadium in Dorset had to travel a distance of approximately 250 miles in a trip of around four-and-a-half hours each way.

But the incredible support for the club was displayed once more as 277 fans made their 9-hour round trip to Weymouth - and on a Tuesday night no less.

And it was worth it as second half braces from Paul Mullin and Jordan Davies and further strikes from James Jones and Ollie Palmer secured another victory for the club.

They currently sit second in the National League table, four points behind league-leaders Stockport County.

Their latest victory also secured a play-off spot as Wrexham look to return to the English Football League after a 14-year absence.

The club's executive director Humphrey Ker was quick to praise the Reds' 'fantastic performance', as well as the club's support and Weymouth's 'warm welcome' after the match.

Ker was announced as Wrexham's executive director following the takeover of Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney in February 2021.

The 277 Wrexham fans who travelled to Weymouth on Tuesday accounted for a good portion of the overall crowd with 921 supporters at the Bob Lucas stadium in total.

The support for the Reds this season has been nothing short of sensational at times.

On Easter Monday, a new record was set for the highest National League attendance at the Racecourse as over 10,000 spectators turned up to watch Wrexham beat Altrincham 4-0.
