WREXHAM Lager's success continues as it announces that its Bootlegger 1974 Pilsner will be sold at every Home Bargains store in Wales and England.

The beer was first produced in 2020 in honour of social media sensation and die-hard Wrexham AFC fan Karl Phillips, AKA Bootlegger.

With 332,000 followers on Twitter alone, it's fair to say that 'the captain' has helped put his beloved Reds on the map.

Over the years, he's become a cult hero through his matchday vlogs and videos of him sinking pints while coining iconic phrases such as “I’ve had an absolute grueller” and “It’s gonna get tasty baby”.

The roofer-by-day's 'one of the lads' approach to life has gained him a lot of recognition among fans who are hooked on his humour and what he gets up to on a daily basis - so much so that he has now even released his own autobiography.

It made sense then for two Wrexham giants to go hand-in-hand and produce the by-now hugely-popular Bootlegger 1974 Pilsner.

PIC: Another moment to savour for the captain!

Wrexham Lager has enjoyed astounding success over the last few years in particular.

As of January 2022, the '1974 Bootlegger Pilsner' and Wrexham Lager have been on sale at Aldi stores across Wales and England.

The beer has also been put on draught at the Menai Cricket Club on Anglesey just last week.

Now, that success moves one step further with the deal which has been struck with over 400 Home Bargains stores across Wales and England.

A statement from Wrexham Lager read: "Wrexham Lager are delighted to announce our newest National deal which will see our Bootlegger 1974 Pilsner being stocked in EVERY Home Bargains store (484) in Wales & England!

"This is further great news for Wrexham Lager & the Captain being recognised by another National retailer & knowing our beers are becoming increasingly available more often all over the UK!

"Scotland - Northern Ireland - WE PROMISE WE ARE CLOSE!

"We thank you all for the continued support - and from Friday 8th April, coming to a Home Bargains store near you soon!"

Tomorrow, (Wednesday, April 6), Wrexham Lager will unveil its latest beer to the public - it's first in two years.
