Wrexham-based hospice, Nightingale House, is sending love to a special group of people who have kept the heart of the hospice beating for many years.

The hospice lottery has been a fundraising mainstay at Nightingale House for many years, and the long running relationship with its members has been hugely important to the hospice, with the lottery now being one of its main sources of income.

Members have continued to play for many years and have loved the impact and benefits of being a part of the weekly draw. Now, Nightingale House is asking for others to join this special group and to 'Love our Lottery' too.

Tracey Price, Lottery manager at Nightingale House said: "At Nightingale House we love our lottery. We love that it has been an integral part of the hospice for 26 years, raising over £500,000 last year alone, enough to run the hospice for 58 days.

"Our members were vital in helping the hospice get through the difficult times of the last two years, providing a regular source of income when it was so desperately needed.

"Now we're looking for more people to love our lottery and become new members to ensure that we can continue providing specialist palliative care services for more patients and their families."

The love for the hospice lottery also comes from the loyalty of its 15,000 members. More than 1,300 members who joined the hospice lottery five years ago are still members today, and 847 who became members 10 years ago are also still playing. Amazingly over 400 members who were in the first ever lottery draw 26 years ago are also still members.

When people join the lottery, their £1 a week has a massive impact. The hospice recently conducted an online survey of lottery members to ask why they joined. The answers highlight why we Love our Lottery.

They included:

"We promised to support the hospice following the care they gave my father-in-law and the support they gave his wife and our daughters during that time and after he passed away."

"You cared for my dad in his last hours. I arrived to visit him 10 mins after he died, and your staff were incredible. I could tell they had looked after my dad so very well."

"I played the normal lottery and decided I would prefer to play this lottery instead and support a great cause."

This is the real difference that playing the hospice lottery can make.
