A POPULAR Heritage Walk set against the backdrop of Llangollen's stunning Pontcysyllte Aqueduct is set to return after a two-year hiatus.

The Sponsored World Heritage Walk for Nightingale House Hospice is returning to raise vital funds for those with life-limiting illnesses, and has been kindly sponsored by Pat’s Coaches of Wrexham.

The 13 mile walk, will take place on Sunday April 10 and starts from the Chainbridge Hotel in Llangollen.

It takes in the breath-taking landscape of the Dee Valley, the iconic UNESCO site of the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, Chirk Aqueduct, Trevor Basin and the Chirk Tunnel.

As well as raising much-needed funds for the hospice this is a great opportunity for individuals, groups, and families, including children and dogs, to take part in a walk which stretches between Wales and England, taking in three counties of Denbighshire, Wrexham and Shropshire.

In previous years the event has raised over £10,000 for patient care and family support services. This year, it will cost £4,041,617 to run Nightingale House.

Registration is free but walkers are encouraged to raise as much sponsorship as they possibly can.

Fundraiser, Sam Amis said: “I am excited to see the return of the World Heritage Walk. The event has always been popular amongst our supports and we believe that this year, after not hosting major events like this for the past two years there will be lots of eager walkers keen to get out in the fresh air, enjoy the scenery whilst raising funds for the hospice.”

Mark Davies from Pat’s Coaches said: “We are delighted to be supporting Nightingale House Hospice and helping transport walkers to the start of the walk in Llangollen. The hospice is such an important facility in our area, providing care for those with life-limiting illnesses and supporting their families at the same time.”
