A 19-year-old youth has today admitted a charge of manslaughter following the death of his sister aged 15 at a busy seaside caravan site.

The tragedy happened at Ty Mawr Holiday Park, Towyn, last summer.

Matthew Selby, of Windermere Crescent, Ashton-under-Lyne, Greater Manchester, appearing on a video link from Berwyn jail at Wrexham, had already denied murdering Amanda Selby on July 31 at a caravan.

Prosecuting QC Ian Unsworth said the manslaughter plea was accepted.

He said: "After widespread consultation with those instructing me and also the police, that’s an acceptable plea. It’s based on close analysis of the psychiatric reports and it is based upon diminished responsibility.”

Defence QC Gordon Cole said a medical expert was due to see Selby again on Friday.

Judge Rhys Rowlands at Mold crown court adjourned sentencing until March 18.
