A community spirited, Mold-based business has announced employees have selected the British Heart Foundation as the company's charity of the year for 2022.

The P&A Group comprises Zest 4 Leisure, a supplier of timber garden products, The Woodworks Garden Centre and Café in Mold, P&A Pallets & Packaging and St Andrews Business Centre for leased and virtual offices.

Currently 340,000 people in Wales are living with the daily burden of heart and circulatory diseases.

Head of BHF Cymru, Adam Fletcher said: "Heart and circulatory diseases cause heartache on every street in Wales and around 26 deaths each day. With your help, we are determined to do all we can to save and improve lives. Your donations will power the science to help find the breakthroughs, treatments and cures of the future."

With donations from the public, the BHF funds ground-breaking research that will get us closer than ever to a world free from the fear of heart and circulatory diseases.

Commenting on the announcement, Steve Morgan, managing director of the P&A Group said: "Every year, P&A Group employees throw themselves into fundraising challenges to raise money for charities close to their hearts.

"I know this year will be no different and we've already had people signing up for the Manchester Marathon, 5k and 10k runs, daily exercise challenge, pledges to give up sweet treats for a month, virtual quiz nights and much more.

"We're even hosting an event to throw wet sponges at the company directors for a fee!"

Employees of the P&A Group have set a fundraising target of £10,000 for 2022 and have a number of challenges planned.

Andrew Green, British Heart Foundation fundraising manager for North Wales, said: "I am really happy the P&A Group has chosen to support the British Heart Foundation in 2022.

"Heart and circulatory diseases cause one in four of all deaths in Wales, which is a figure that shocks us all.

"I know the P&A Group will raise as much as they can to help fund research into causes, prevention, treatment and cures of heart and circulatory diseases.

"The fundraising that P&A Group does for many charities, and in the local community, is outstanding, so we're thrilled to have been chosen as the company's charity of the year for 2022."

Over the last 11 years, employees of the P&A Group have raised in excess of £100,000 for a variety of charities including Macmillan Cancer Support, Hope House and Tŷ Gobaith Children's Hospices, Cancer Research UK, Action for Children, Alzheimer's Society, Alder Hey Children's Hospital and Meningitis Now.
