THE MOTHER of a Deeside man who quit his day job to pursue a career in the music industry says she is 'immensely proud' of his latest success.

Danny Edwards, aka Danny Ed, left his role as an apprentice at Airbus in Broughton to chase his dream of becoming a rapper.

Now, two years on from his last appearance in The Leader, the 20-year-old from Connah's Quay has enjoyed plenty of success and his tracks are garnering great attention.

Danny, a former Wepre Primary and Connah's Quay High pupil, has just recently made it into the top 50 most globally streamed tracks on SoundCloud with his latest single 'Mission Man' having had over 700,000 plays.

It has so far reached as high up the chart as number 32 for all music genres.

Proud mum Vanessa Roberts said: "I can honestly say it makes myself and the rest of his family immensely proud. Im your typical mum, I keep telling people 'that’s my lad!'

"I believe Danny's love of music started early, he loved listening to music as a child. His Grandmother used to sing to the troops during the war and most of her side of the family have been blessed with good singing voices."

During lockdown in 2020, Danny started experimenting with beats and creating songs, and by July he released his first track ‘Dreams To Attack’.

That was followed by a second track; ‘VIP’ and a third in 2021; 'Proved it' - for which he shot his first music video.

Mum Vanessa added: "He has found his own style. His latest video release is ‘Stone Cold’ which is doing really well too.

"I would definitely say VIP was the one that actually got noticed and had thousands of streams and obviously Mission Man which was filmed on Garth Pier in Bangor.

"He seems to be on the edge of something great. You don't get into the top 50 for nothing. The videos are great too - some of them have got a little bit of swearing in, which I have told him off for but it's all to do with being artistic!"

Danny is not yet signed to a label, but mum Vanessa says that there has been 'loads of interest' in signing him up, but he has wanted to stay independent for as long as possible.

His Music can be found via Danny Ed on Spotify or his Instagram Page Dannyedd_. which has over 13,000 followers.
