CHIRK residents can now check for themselves the air quality following the installation of a Air Quality Monitoring.

The site, the second to be installed in the town, is now up and running at Chirk Community Hospital.

It will continually monitor for Nitrogen Dioxide, Volatile Organic Compounds and Particulate Matter (both 2.5 μm and 10 μm).

It comes amid concerns in recent years about air quality in the Chirk area - centred around the Kronospan factory. In the past, residents have protested outside the factory, calling for "clean air".

This new site forms an important addition to Wrexham Councils ongoing Air Quality monitoring program with the results being independently assessed annually and reported to the Welsh Government.

All the results are available on the Welsh Government run website

The site also collects wind direction and speed and this data is available on
