MORE than 1,800 new cases of coronavirus have been recorded in Wales.

The latest update from Public Health Wales covering the latest 24-hour period, reported that there had been 1,803 positive Covid tests in Wales.

Of these, 284 were here in North Wales.

In North Wales, the highest numbers of new cases were in Wrexham, Flintshire and Conwy.

The new Covid cases in North Wales can be broken down to:

Wrexham - 95

Flintshire - 46

Conwy - 46

Gwynedd - 41

Denbighshire - 38

Anglesey - 18

The seven-day rate for cases in Wales is 572/100,000 population.

This compares 2,335.5/100k on January 2, suggesting that Wales is now past the peak of the Omicron variant wave.

Only Wrexham has a higher seven-day rate than the national average.
