POLICE want to find out the identity of a child that sparked a major search operation in Flintshire.

A major search by air and on the ground was launched on Sunday night after the child was seen walking along the street wearing only pyjamas and a Batman dressing gown.

Police were contacted at about 8pm and the boy was last seen near the Spar store in Flint.

Coordinated air and ground searches were undertaken throughout the evening but the child was not located.

Later on Sunday, police said they had not received a report of a missing child and were satisfied the boy was no longer on the streets.

Chief Inspector Jeff Moses of North Wales Police said: “Extensive enquiries have been undertaken including checks with other agencies and schools.

"At this stage there is nothing to suggest that the child came to any harm and it is highly likely that he returned home very soon after police were called.

"We have not received any report of a missing child.

"If anyone can confirm the identity of the child please contact us quoting incident number B003961.”

After the search, police thanked the communities of Flint and Oakenholt for their support.
