A SENIOR Wrexham Police Officer has issued a warning to those responsible for a spike in anti-social behaviour within the district.

Increasing ASB offences have been recorded around Plas Madoc, Ruabon Services Station and Cefn Mawr in recent weeks.

One suspect has been arrested and charged in relation to some of these offences, with ongoing efforts to identify and arrest others who persistently offend.

Sergeant Rhodri Ifans of the Wrexham Rural Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “Wrexham Rural NPT are fully aware of these ongoing issues of anti-social behaviour and we take them extremely seriously.

“As a result of pursuing those involved, one individual has been charged and will appear in youth court early next year for a string of offences.

“There are many more who will follow, as their behaviour over a period of time has been unacceptable. Regardless of intervention they have continued to pursue this type of offending.

“We are also working closely with Wrexham County Borough Council’s tenancy enforcement department.

“As a result, notices of eviction are also being issued to the families of those responsible.

“There is more at stake than just a criminal record, whole families could lose their homes as a result of one family member’s actions.

“My message to parents within the district is: Please consider where your sons and daughters are, who they are spending time with, and what they are doing when they are out of the home.

“We will continue to investigate these incidents and offer remedial work but there’s only so much we can do before prosecution is the only option.

“I’d urge anyone who thinks that they can get away with anti-social behaviour on our streets to think before they act as it could have a lasting effect on future prospects.”

Anyone who witnesses anti-social behaviour should report it by calling 101, or dialling 999 in an emergency.
