IT'S a weekend off for Adran North leaders Connah's Quay Nomads as they prepare for their biggest game of the season.

There will be a real festive feel about the Nomads and team boss Jordan Parry said: "This week, the players are having a Christmas outing."

The players will be heading to Liverpool for their festivities - but the preparations will continue next week as they prepare for a top-of-the-table meeting with Bethel on December 12.

As things stand, Connah's Quay are top with 15 points, with Bethel in second spot, two points behind but with a game in hand.

"We have trained extra this week and we will be training extra next week ready for Bethel," added Parry.

"We know we're going into a really important game.

"The pressure is on them and we are the underdogs."

Nomads continued their excellent run of form last weekend to maintain their position at the top of the Adran North standings.

It was a potential banana skin as Connah's Quay headed to Pwllheli, but they came away with a 5-1 success.

Captain Kirtsie Kural, Jade Scott, Fran Scott and Sienna Strapp all found the target.

"We knew what we were getting into going to Pwllheli," added Parry.

"It was a challenging environment with the weather, with the pitch.

"With the personnel we have got, they are pretty robust.

"We didn't play as well as we could, but we walked away with the win.

"In the second half, we raised the performance and we showed real resilience."

There's only one Adran North fixture over the next week, with Llandudno strong favourites to pick up the three points at Denbigh Town on December 7.

If Llandudno win, they will take over at the top of the table.

Although Wrexham bagged an 18-0 victory versus Denbigh Town in their latest run-out, manager Steve Dale says there is still room for improvement from his side.

Last Sunday's win made it three wins in a row for the Reds and Dale told the club's YouTube channel: "We were drumming into them at half-time that although we were six or seven-nil up at half-time, there was a few occasions where we were a little bit sloppy and we needed to ensure that we continued to do the right things, really, the things we've been building up on the last two weeks.

"There was quite a few positives in terms of (the) second half.

"I thought we stuck to it a little bit better.

"Obviously, there's still room for improvement, there's still better decision making that we could have made, which probably could have opened up the scoreline a little bit more, but on the whole, pleased to get the three points and those three wins back-to-back now."

Top scorer Rosie Hughes had an amazing day as she bagged nine goals for the Reds.

"Rosie's always a threat in and around the box and when you've got her in your team, you've always got half-a-chance of scoring goals and winning games," added Dale.

"So we're really, really happy to have her on board and I'm made up for her to sort of claw back that deficit between the top scorers from other teams as well, so really pleased for Rosie."

Sunday's Adran Premier fixtures: Swansea City v Aberystwyth Town; Cardiff Met v Barry Town United; The New Saints v Port Talbot; Pontypridd Town v Cardiff City.
