MIKE CUNNINGHAM says fans who want to watch a good game football should turn up at Alyn Park to watch Mold Alex face Saltney Town in the cup tomorrow.

Mold are enjoying a great season while Saltney Town made the headlines for a thrilling Welsh Cup run earlier in the campaign.

“Looking forward to a tough game and they are always good games for the neutral between us and Saltney,” said Cunningham, who used to manage The Bordermen before heading to Mold.

“We have a couple of injury doubts but hopeful they will shake them off in time for Saturday. Tommy Edwards and Guto Hughes definitely miss out but Conner Kendrick will make a long awaited return and Ellis Hickey is pushing for a starting spot.”

Rhostyllen coach Darren Hignett knows his side will need to be at the top of their game to make it through at Llay Welfare.

“Llay have been flying in the league of late and had some very good results along the way,” said Hignett.

“We would love to go on a good cup run but we know we are going to have to be at our best to beat them.”

In form striker Tom Douglas is struggling and player-boss Warren Aykroyd Duckett is also a major doubt.

“Young winger Cameron Thomas came off injured last Saturday and forward Will Nevitt is unavailable so we are a bit thin on the ground in attack,” added Hignett.

Scott Swords does return as his ban applies to league games only.

Llay Welfare boss Mike Gadie is looking for warmer conditions this weekend!

Last Saturday was a chilly one for the 2-2 league draw with Llanrwst and Gadie said: “We’re very lucky we have not long had sponsorship for bodywarmers and big jackets.

“I was dressed like something out of South Park!”

Jonny Taylor, Ryan Merrill, Michael Wright and Adam Davies are all unavailable for the cup tie at home to Rhostyllen tomorrow.

“Over the years I’ve been doing it, Rhostyllen have been a bit of a bogey side to us, especially at home,” added Gadie.

“Tom Douglas has got good stats at the Welfare.

“As long as we can keep him quiet and go about what we have been doing over the last four or five weeks, I’m quietly confident we can make it into the next round.”

Gadie is pleased with the way his side is looking going forward, but he wants a more positive outlook at the other end of the pitch.

“The main thing for me is we’re scoring goals galore,” he added.

“But we haven’t kept a clean sheet in the league this season.”

Rhos Aelwyd were battered 5-0 at home by Berriew a week ago so the mid-Wales outfit will be firm favourites to progress as they have an instant return to Ponciau Banks.

Dyfan Smith is unavailable for Rhos, but set to return are James Rumsey, Dan Roberts, Ian Hughes, Calum Smith, Aled Bayley and Alfie Owens.

Corwen will fancy their chances of beating Carno and making it into the quarter-finals while in the remaining first round tie, Llanuwchllyn welcome Denbigh Town.

Caersws host Penparcau, Dolgellau go to Kerry while the ties kick off tonight at Llandudno Albion where St Asaph City are the visitors.

Chirk AAA boss Andy Pryde was glad to get back to winning ways with last weekend's 2-0 success over Dolgellau.

"It was comfortable all game, but it did take until the 90th minute to get the second goal."

It's a big clash tomorrow, with North East League leaders Chirk at second-placed Llanfair United.

"Going on the points, I would say it's the biggest game of the season," said Pryde.

"It's totally the winter game now and it's going to be about areas."

Ryan Edwards is suspended for Chirk, while Jack Edwards is also unavailable.

Penycae boss Dan Richards said the team picked itself at the moment, with next month like to be key to the side's fortunes going forward.

"It's a case of getting to January and signing a couple of extra bodies," he said.

"This weekend, we're missing quite a few to be fair."

Penycae host Bow Street in the league tomorrow, with Brandon Edwards, Mike Parry, Adam Peters, Gary Evans and Les Morris among those who are unavailable.

Ben Darlington will take his place between the posts.

Richards added: "My honeymoon period is almost over.

"We need to start picking up points now."

There’s one tie in Group B of the Mike Beech Memorial Trophy with Penyffordd Lions making the trip to Overton Rec.
