A PUBLIC appeal for information has been launched after a child's swing was discovered to have been tampered with at a playground in Gobowen.

The play equipment is inspected monthly by Selattyn and Gobowen Parish Council and the most recent inspection revealed that a link in the chain for the toddler swing had been partially cut.

As there is a large time-frame for the vandalism to have potentially taken place, the parish council are appealing to anyone who might have seen something or has information.

A spokesman for the parish council said: "The playground equipment in Gobowen is regularly inspected to make sure it is safe.

"Last Wednesday, the inspector discovered that one of the links in the chains on a toddler swing had been partly severed, probably with bolt cutters.

"Swift action was taken and the swing has been taken down until new chains are delivered.

"The remaining swings were all thoroughly checked and pronounced safe and unaffected.

"It would have taken quite some effort to cause this damage.

"The incident has been reported to the police.

"If you had noticed the damage before the swing was taken down, please let us know so that we can try and pinpoint when the damage was likely to have been done.

"Please also let us, or the police, know if you have any information about the persons involved."
