Earlier this month the school celebrated the huge milestone of 345 years of continuous education on the site.

Sir John Hanmer built the school for the children of the village in 1676, and since then, children have continuously been educated on the site.

Parents and members of the local community were welcomed to the outdoor celebration. A dedication took place that included a blessing of the new Amphitheatre steps, built with a generous bequest left to the school by Dr David McCarter, who was the doctor of the village from 1967 to 2011.

The Rt Revd Gregory Cameron, Bishop of St Asaph, led the dedication service, with the children of the school taking centre stage on their new steps as they entertained visitors with songs and readings.

Cllr Ronnie Prince and Sunanda Kapas, Mayor and Mayoress of Wrexham, were also in attendance, with the Mayor cutting the ribbon to formally open the new feature at the school.

It was definitely a case of putting the fun into fundraising recently, as the school joined in for Children in Need.

A sleuth of bears, friends of Pudsey, were part of those at the school who helped to raise a total of £450.

All children went to school wearing either, Pudsey themed clothes, clothes with spots or anything yellow.

The children took part in the Joe Wicks live workout and carried out different Pudsey and Children in Need themed activities and had lots of fun throughout the day.

Over the last few weeks School Council also ran a raffle to raise money for Children in Need. The prize was a giant teddy bear, and the raffle raised a brilliant £201.

The school gave a bug thank you to all the parents and pupils who bought a ticket. The lucky winner was Delia. Lola and Nevaya won runner-up prizes, kindly donated by a grandparent. Year 6 councillors, Hallie and Thomas presented the winners with the prizes.

Pupils from Dosbarth Gwdihw at the school, visited St David's Church in Connah's Quay last week.

They were made very welcome, and the pupils had the opportunity to look around the beautiful church.

The children visited to collect a donation from the church and members of the congregation, who had kindly collected funds that were given to the school to purchase new items for the new Sensory Room back at school.

The children are looking forward to visiting again and would like to thank the church and the parishioners for their kind donations.
