ALMOST 2,500 new cases of coronavirus have been recorded in Wales.

In the latest update from Public Health Wales on Wednesday, 2,492 new cases of the virus were reported.

There have been 447,665 cases of covid in Wales since the start of the pandemic.

Sadly, there have been seven additional deaths of people after testing positive for coronavirus.

In North Wales, there were 391 new cases reported in the latest update.

Of those, Flintshire had the most with 103.

Covid cases in North Wales can be broken down to:

  • Flintshire - 103
  • Wrexham - 78
  • Gwynedd - 74
  • Denbighshire - 65
  • Conwy - 41
  • Anglesey - 30

In Wales as a whole, the seven-day rolling infection rate is now 546.2 cases per 100,000 members of the population.

In North Wales, the rate in all counties is below the national average.

  • Denbighshire - 469.2/100k
  • Gwynedd - 442.4
  • Wrexham - 409.7
  • Flintshire - 399.7
  • Anglesey - 395.5
  • Conwy - 363.5

Last week, First Minister Mark Drakeford warned that stricter measures will be considered at the next three-weekly review if infection rates are still high in Wales.
