DESPITE several local cancellations of fireworks displays this year, there are a number that are still going ahead.

Welsh Government Covid-19 guidelines have led to cancellations of some events, such as Flint and Mold.

Buckley's event, however, will now go ahead after a town council U-turn on the original decision to cancel it.

Here's a list of local displays which are going ahead:

Mynydd Isa - Friday, November 5

Mynydd Isa Football Club is organising this event at the Argoed sports ground - next to Argoed Sports and Social Club.

Gates open at 5.30pm ahead of the display at 6pm. It is free to attend but there will be a collection to help raise funds for new facilities for the sports and social club.

A bar will be open and food will be available.

Buckley - Sunday, November 7

The annual Buckley fireworks display on the Higher Common had been cancelled amid concerns over an inability to control the number of people attending.

However, the town council reversed its decision - with the event set to go ahead on Sunday evening.

There will just be a display this year, without the usual fairground and stalls.

Gresford - Friday, November 5

Gresford Athletic Football Club is organising a display at the Gresford memorial hall - with gates opening at 6.30pm.

Carmel, near Holywell - Friday, November 5

Carmel Cricket Club is hosting its annual display - with gates opening at 6pm, the bonfire lit at 7pm and the fireworks display at 7.30pm.

Admission is priced at £3 for adults and £1 for children. If the weather on the Friday is poor, the event will be rescheduled for the next day.

Caia Park - Friday, November 5

St Mark's Church is organising and hosting this event which it will run between 6pm and 8pm.

As well as the display, there will be a barbecue and hot drinks served.

Chester - Saturday, November 6

The popular event held at Chester Racecourse is going ahead this year - with two displays for people to enjoy.

There will also be a fairground and a number of fun activities in store for the whole family, as well as a range of tasty treats.

This event is now sold out.

Hawarden - Friday, November 5

This pet-friendly bonfire and light show event is being held at the Hawarden estate.
