ALDI has introduced a new traffic management system at one of its stores in Flintshire.

In August this year Aldi opened the doors to its new and improved Mold food store.

But since the opening of the new store, Aldi said it has been made aware of some local issues with the volume of traffic queuing from the McDonald’s drive-thru.

And the supermarket chain said that as as part of its commitment to the local community, it has now developed, in conjunction with McDonalds, a solution to this issue to ensure its customers are able to use the customer car park in a manner which keeps disruption to a minimum.

The traffic management system creates a circulatory system around the first section of the car park to enable an increased queue length and keep the drive-thru traffic from blocking back to the roundabout.

To ensure that vehicles do not cut through sections of the car park and interrupt the proposed traffic management system, back to back kerbs will also be introduced along the back edge of some parking spaces. Both of these measures will make for better management of vehicles and vastly improve the drive-thru queuing capacity, Aldi said.

Bryn Richards, property director for Aldi, said: “We have been delighted with the feedback received from local customers after re-opening our doors in August of this year.

“However, we have been aware that queuing from the McDonald’s drive-thru has been causing disruption within our car park. We have worked hard to develop this solution with McDonalds which shall be in operation during peak times.

“This traffic management solution will ensure that our loyal customers are able to use our store during peak times without experiencing these lengthy queue’s and delays.”
