The School Council got ready to give out some hampers to local neighbours at Griffiths Court as part of their harvest celebrations.

Children at the school also wore red for a day, to raise awareness of racism, and help stamp it out, as part of Show Racism the Red Card.

Pupils at the school have been preparing harvest food hampers for Age Connects North East Wales to distribute to older people in their local Community.

Last week Karen Crane and Anna Jones from the charity Age Connects NEW, visited the children to collect the hampers and praised them for their hard work and kindness.

The food hampers were made up from generous food donations sent in by parents and staff.

Pupils had also made cards and pictures to go in the hampers.

Students in the Sixth Form donned a variety of pink garments in order to raise awareness of breast cancer.

Caring youngsters and staff cheerfully decorated the Sixth Form area and sold pink cakes, doughnuts and pink ribbon goodies throughout the day to raise both money and awareness for the Breast Cancer Now campaign, and also the amazing work of Hope House Children's Hospices.

Assistant head of Sixth Form, Lauren Robinson, said: “This wonderful event has been organised as a collaboration between our Business Enterprise Group and the Sixth Form Charity Committee.

"Everybody has had a lot of fun and feasted on all kinds of sweet delicacies, but we are really mindful of the need to continue drawing attention to the serious issue of Breast Cancer and how it affects so many lives on a daily basis."

Assistant headteacher and Sixth Form development manager, Kevin Davies, added: “The students have really entered into the spirit of the day and were quick to support the vital work of such a good cause.

"With a large Sixth Form population we have raised a considerable amount of money and all students have given generously and had fun participating.

"I’m proud to know our students have a real awareness of such issues and they take it upon themselves to support those who need help.

"When qualifications are finished, their kindness will remain.”
