WONDERING what happened to the Hollywood-style Wrexham sign inspired by the town football club's takeover? Well, those responsible for it have now revealed where its legacy will 'live on' in future.

The giant sign resembling iconic white letters on the Hollywood hills was first set up on Bersham Bank overlooking the A483 back in August.

However, it has since disappeared, leaving locals wondering what happened to the sign which had become a visitor attraction overnight.

At the time of its unveiling, mystery surrounded who was responsible for setting it up in the first place.

Wrexham Council was quick to say it had nothing to do with it as were new Wrexham AFC owners and Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

Vanarama, who sponsor the National League which the Dragons play in, then went on to claim ownership of the region's newest landmark.

Earlier this month, the sign disappeared without explanation but now Vanarama has confirmed it has donated it to Wrexham AFC themselves.

That decision comes after Vanarama failed to 'extend an agreement' with the landowners to keep the sign in its original Bersham Colliery location.

Daryl West, Head of Sponsorship & PR for Vanarama said: "Unfortunately we were unable to extend our agreement with the land owners to keep the giant Wrexham sign at Bersham Colliery.

"Given the strong positive reception it received we really didn’t want to let it go to waste, so donating it to the football club made complete sense. We’re delighted they will be making use of it and we look forward to seeing its legacy live on at the Racecourse Ground."
