A cafe that puts community wellbeing at the heart of what it does, has reopened after closing through the pandemic and most recently for refurbishment.

The Community Cafe, in Rhos, held an event for its official relaunch, with guests Mayor and Mayoress of Wrexham, Cllr Ronnie Prince and Sunanda Kapas.

The cafe, which has also worked as part of a foodbank set up in Capel Mawr, has been run as a registered charity for a number of years.

Cafe and foodbank coordinator Grace Lockhart said: "Now the world begins to open up again, we see the effects of the pandemic play out in people's lives - Devastating loneliness due to the loss of loved ones, crushing feelings of grief and a paralysing loss of confidence from so much isolation.

"These are all very real issues in our community. In response to these, our community cafe needs to evolve, to meet the needs of those who need us most.

"This is why we have had a rebirth as community hub and wellbeing centre, in order to house a number of projects to help those suffering with these issues.

"Our redecorating and upcycling is self funded and carried out by our amazing volunteers. And we are so thankful for all the local support shown to us."
